Summer Garden Dog Portraits

Smaller dogs in summer blooms is one of my favorite ways to celebrate pets.

As a professional dog photographer here in Minneapolis, I love working outside. Especially in the summer when the gardens are full of colorful blooms and a carpet of greens. It makes a lovely backdrop for pet portraits.

Part of the pet photography experience involves a discussion about your unique decorating style - the colors and textures that appeal most to you. It’s vital information, so I can tailor the images to match your style. We want your artwork to work well with your current decor. And don’t worry - it’s art! There are no right (or wrong) choices. I promise. Just go with what appeals to you. I officially grant permission to have fun with your dog art.

Custom pet photography involves way more than pretty images. I’ll guide you through the entire experience, from picking the right photo location, to your wardrobe, to image selection and interior design.

For this session in Lyndale Rose Garden, we chose a natural, colorful look to coordinate with their rustic living room. I love how the chartreuse greens play with the dark tones and gray- green colors in the room.

I think adorable Pumpernickel adds so much personality and life to this living room. Who wouldn’t want to spend time here?

Custom designed album for Minneapolis dog photographer handcrafted in Italy

Custom Album

I couldn’t resist taking a few images of Pumpernickel’s backside. Corgie rears are so darned cute. You might not want it on your wall, (actually, I might,…) but it makes a fantastic image to include in your album.

Most clients create an album, so they can tell the whole story of their pet. It’s a wise investment, and I always photograph enough variety for album design. Pumpernickel’s album will look at home either on a bookshelf or a coffee table- it lives in a wooden box with a clear lid. The cover of the album becomes a photo display. It’s so versatile, and I love that. I love even more that the album is handcrafted in Italy and printed on fine art paper.

Pumpernickel and her parents were amazing to work with! They did a fantastic job.

Documenting the connection between dogs and their humans is a big reason I became a dog photographer, and 5 years in, I still can’t get enough. I find it mystical and beautiful.
