End of life celebration sessions

Is your pet nearing the end of their life? Maybe you just received a diagnosis, or maybe you are painfully aware that your pet has more yesterdays than tomorrows.

Many pet parents find themselves in this situation. and in my opinion it’s one of the worst parts about sharing your life with a pet. Their lives are tragically short

As a professional pet photographer .I am often asked whether we can celebrate your pet’s life with custom pet portraits even in the face of a health concern.

And the answer is yes, absolutely we can. There are a few considerations to keep in mind.

Session Location. It’s my job as your pet photographer to provide a safe and comfortable space for all beings during our custom pet photography session. Here in Minnesota, that might mean moving the session to my comfortable and quiet studio in Hopkins, especially in the warmest and coldest months of the year. If you have your heart set on an outdoor session, we can do that. too, we will make accommodation for temperature extremes - photographing in the morning or evening in the summer and at mid day in the winter.

I usually do not photograph sessions at clients’ homes. However, if you have a pet for whom a trip to the local park is too much, I will make an exception and photograph your pet (and their humans if you like) at your home or other meaningful location. My only requirement is that your home be a smoke free home (this includes wood heat and wood fireplaces).

Scheduling. Often the diagnosis comes as a bit of a shock, and you will want to get the celebration session on my schedule as soon as possible. I will do all I can to ft you in to my schedule.

Investment. I never charge extra for these celebration sessions. I offer a variety of albums and other keepsake heirlooms that will keep your pet’s life relevant for years to come.

Photos with other pets or humans. Custom photography sessions always include the option of adding your pet’s fur siblings and human companions - it’s just part of the process. If you want some heirloom photos of you and your beloved pet, I am honored to create them for you. I always include detail images as well so that you have tangible memories of the things you cherish most about your pet - their eyes, their fur pattern, their toe beans, their fuzzy tail.

In sum, I will work with you and the needs of your pet to create a meaningful session that celebrates the love and connection among your pet and their humans, and also the life of your pet. To have this opportunity is a blessing.

May you and your pet find peace.
