5 ways to celebrate the holidays with your pet
Your pet is family. And no one makes a more joyful companion than your dog. So why not find some time to include your beloved pet in the festivities? (safely, of course.) Here are some ideas.
Play! In all of the holiday to-ing and fro-ing, it’s important to schedule some downtime. Your pet needs you, and you both need to play. So go have fun. Run around in the snow. Go for a nice long walk in your favorite park. If it’s too cold outside, roll the ball on the floor inside. Or head to an indoor play park (shout out to Unleashed Hounds and Hops) and let your dog play while you enjoy refreshments. May I recommend craft beer?
Cook! Make them some holiday treats. Here’s a recipe for peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats. Or, if you don’t want to make them yourself, my friend at Barkuterie Box will bake them for you. She even ships!
Spoil ‘em. Yeah, I know they are already kinda spoiled. (I prefer well loved.) Massage is good for dogs. Just ask Victoria at The Balanced Orchid. Massage can help reduce anxiety and promote healing. Spoil yourself while you’re at it- all of that winter dog walking in the frozen tundra that is Minneapolis can take a toll on your skin. Goodbye Dry Duo from Beautycounter buffs away dry, flaky skin and deeply hydrates from head to toe. A spa experience for the hoomans from the comfort of home, without any harmful or questionable ingredients!
Give . Y’all know I love to support local animal rescues. Consider donating to my rescue partners, Secondhand Hounds and Pet Haven.
Create! Are you the sentimental type? I am. No judgement here- I often weep with pet photography clients when I show them their session images. A personalized holiday ornament might make your heart happy. One made here in Minnesota, perhaps? I’d be honored to help you create a keepsake ornament. It’s easy! We can use your favorite photos from your pet photography session.
However you celebrate, may your days be full of laughter and love. Happy Holidays!
